Choosing guns would give you mechanical, chemical, and metallurgical knowledge. The catch is that although the information is in your heads. It will take time to utilize it. You have to make the tools to make the tools and so on.
Some breakthroughs will be more important than others in the short term. Knowledge of how to build a nuclear weapon and side avenues of advancement given by that knowledge will not save you're people from disease. So choose carefully. Choose something that will be near immediately useful. Not something that will take decades possibly centuries to properly implement.
